Under the direction of JB Hartigan, Bowman, Foster & Associates is providing design team prime services for the renovation of building 110B 2nd floor at the Department of VA Medical Center in Hampton, VA. The purpose of the project is to provide 36,000 square feet of new clinical/administrative space to Building 110B. 26,100 square feet of space will be located over the existing first floor interstitial roof, and it will house new primary care spaces, a sleep clinic, Specialty Clinics for Neurology, Endocrinology, and Pulmonary test Labs, and Gastro-Intestinal exam rooms, and additional support spaces for those functions. The new primary care facility will provide all necessary spaces for six PACT teams. Each PACT team will consist of two exam rooms, one doctor/LPN office, and centralized nurse stations along with pharmacist, mental health and social worker support spaces. The new primary care facility will also include conference rooms, reception areas, a new waiting room, check-in kiosks, two check-out areas and support spaces. These support spaces include Nurses Stations, Physician Work Areas, Med Rooms, Clean Storage, Clean and Soiled Utilities, Janitor Closets (HAC), Staff Break Room/Locker Room and Restrooms, Patient Check-in and Check-out, Public Restrooms, and Triage. 3,340 square feet of existing roof will be converted into a terrace area.

Richard A. Duckworth joins the Bowman, Foster & Associates team with almost 20 years’ experience in the mechanical, electrical and plumbing industry. His knowledge of AutoCAD from release 14 to current (’15) strengthens our already powerful CADD department; however, his ability and working knowledge of providing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing AutoCAD Revit design services will provide our clients with powerful 3D BIM models. Bowman, Foster & Associates looks forward to incorporating more BIM deliverables to our clients that will allow them to view their project from concept to construction with a model-based approach. Bowman, Foster & Associates is glad to welcome a new mechanical engineer to our team. Katherine Cox, PE, LEED AP BD+C, GGP, GPCP joins BFA with over 14 years of experience in the A&E industry. She specializes in the design, layout, equipment selection and sizing of piping and ductwork. Her design experience covers all aspects of our industry including: cooling tower systems, chilled and hot water, packaged and split cooling and heating systems, VAV, and much more. Her expertise in building energy analysis, load analysis, life cycle & economic analysis will provide our clients with exceptionally effective designs. In addition to being a talented designer she will provide our clients with sustainable design solutions meeting LEED, Green Globes or Guiding Principles accreditations (her impressive resume already includes 3 LEED platinum projects).  She has experience with commercial, federal government, state/local government and industries.

Dranan Sparks, LEED AP BD+C, GGP, GPCP brings over 25 years in building architecture, engineering and construction. Senior electrical designer, project engineer, and project manager with experience in all aspects of electrical engineering and associated disciplines including power distribution, lighting and controls, telecommunications, fire alarm, security, sound and audio/visual systems.. Experienced in design bid-build, design build, condition surveys, and construction phase services for DOD, GSA, BCOM, commercial, institutional, educational, recreation, waterfront, and utilities projects. Development of project sustainable design objectives, multi-discipline coordination, and LEED Project Administration. 

Glen Allsbrook III, a recent graduate of Old Dominion University, joins us with 10 years of Electrical Engineering experience.  His past experience and education provides BFA with specialties that include Lighting (including fixture selection, calculation and layout, protection), Green Building Design (LEED, Dark sky, LED technologies), Power Distribution (voltage drop calculation, high voltage switch/xfmr), and Fire, Telecommunications and Security designing.

Brock Frey, EIT, CPD, LEED AP joins us with 12 years of mechanical designing experience and sitting for his PE within the year.  Brock brings a special knowledge of plumbing engineering and design to Bowman, Foster that we are thrilled to have.

Dilip Sri Bussa, EIT, LEED AP joins BFA bringing 9 years of experience in designing Heating, Ventilating, and Air conditioning systems. With experience as a project engineer and a team leader, where he has been responsible for field investigations as well as the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for state, federal, and commercial projects in various parts of United States.  Specialized expertise in LEED design calculations, duct layout, piping layout.  He brings additional design experience with projects including Universities and Colleges, the U.S. Navy, Apartments, Historic building renovations, Hotels, Restaurants, Industrial, and healthcare- facilities, within the states of Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Florida, and South Carolina.

Michael Fleming brings 40+ years of  layout and design of all aspects of mechanical building systems for new construction and mechanical renovation projects. He has been responsible for all phases of construction supervision relating to the mechanical disciplines in educational, institutional, industrial, renovation and military projects. Mr. Fleming has been a participant in and been responsible for field engineering surveys, energy audits, air and water balance and technical assistance programs. He has extensive experience with the phased renovation of complex HVAC system.

General Contractor I&B/Donley JV & Design Team Prime Bowman, Foster & Associates completed 6 Design/Build projects at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD with an estimated construction value of $3,300,000. The projects were combined as one project for cost saving on permitting, surveying, et cetera then divided to meet with the clients requirements via the RFP. These projects included ADA Walkway improvements, ADA Playground, Ball Field Improvements, ADA Hard Surface Sports Courts, and Renovations Pavilion to ADA Bike Parking and Soccer Field.

WRNMMC Director, Brigadier General Jeffrey B. Clark, US Army, I&B/Donley, and BFA attended the ribbon cutting ceremony in recognition of the completed well received renovation project. Immediately following the ceremony Army / Navy teams took to the snowy field for a friendly scrimmage game of flag football.
