Renovation of Building 393, Fort Meade, MD

This project provided the construction documentation for the Design/Build renovation of Building 393. BFA was the prime consultant on this project working with an 8(A) contractor. The building was an abandoned 10,500 SF, one story, administration complex. Designs provided for the complete demolition of the facility down to the foundation.

Mechanical work provided new HVAC using a central system including gas-fired hot water boiler, pumps, variable volume (VAV) air handling units, fan powered VAV terminals, ductwork, diffusers, grills, and associated DDC controls. Plumbing work involved installation of new fixtures and equipment; water closets, wall mounted urinals and lavatories, lavatories with wheel chair access, service sinks with counter tops, electric water coolers, three-way water mixing valves, gas fired water heaters, buried and above ground water piping with gate valves for zone control. Electrical work included new interior distribution (208Y/120 volt, 3 phase, 4 wire, 60Hz) for general lighting and power. Lighting fixtures used are fluorescent troffers with electronic ballasts and T8 lamps. New telephone and fire alarm systems along with a new exterior distribution system were also provided. A new roof and completely new interior and exterior finishes for the entire building were included.
